On of my favorite places in Florence for a perfect stay? Without any doubt it is The St. Regis Florence, one of the icons of the Italian ospitality. I had the chance to stay there more times and every time I can visit the city, I book a room in this marvelous hotel. The ambiance is great, but what most makes the difference is the staff. They work to make you feel at home, everything must be exactly as you want. This is the added value.
I tried other fabulous hotels in Florence, but the view of the river from the rooms of this superb structure is incomparable. Imagine to see sunrise or sunset on the water and on Ponte Vecchio. Well, I also try different rooms and suites in order to personalize more my experience. You should know that sometimes, before to go to Florence, I check the availability at The St. Regis Florence, so I can fix dates. Then I know that I will stay in a dream. At least something positive for my trip is already sure before to start. It’s true, I deeply love this accommodation. My review here wants to give you all the tips to choose the best room for you. But I have also something more…
When you are the city, you have to reserve a table at Gucci Osteria in Florence.
Why to stay at The St. Regis Florence?
People often ask me why we keep going back to the same places. In Florence, there are numerous luxury hotels to choose from, but my absolute favorite is the St Regis. This hotel embodies pure Renaissance luxury in my eyes. It resides in a historic palace designed by none other than Filippo Brunelleschi himself (yes, that Brunelleschi!). With its crystal chandeliers, opulent fabrics, and stunning views of the Arno River, the St. Regis Florence stands on a level of its own.
What’s more, the hotel is conveniently located within walking distance (or a short cab ride) from the Santa Maria Novella train station. It’s a mere 15-minute stroll away from iconic landmarks such as Piazza della Signoria, Palazzo Vecchio, San Lorenzo Market, Mercato Centrale, and the magnificent Duomo, along with other major attractions in the historic center of Florence. Santa Croce is just a 20-minute walk away, and I absolutely adore the artists in Piazza Santa Croce! If you’re up for it, a 30-minute walk will take you to the breathtaking Piazzale Michelangelo.
All around you
Additionally, being just across the bridge from the Oltarno district and Santo Spirito, you’ll have access to an array of delightful restaurants. The location of the St Regis is perfect because it allows you to easily reach all the main sights on foot. While also providing a peaceful retreat away from the bustling crowds.
One of the many advantages of staying at the St Regis is its proximity to car rental agencies. If you plan on taking day trips from Florence, it’s incredibly convenient to pop in and out of the city. Often, we find ourselves driving into Florence from Tuscany, dropping off our luggage, returning our rental car, and then picking up another one after our stay in Florence for the remainder of our trip.
Whether you’re seeking a romantic getaway, a memorable honeymoon, or a special New Year’s Eve celebration, the St Regis is the ultimate choice in Florence. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed.
The St. Regis Florence reviews of rooms and suites
According to my experiences in the hotel, I am going to share some information and opinions about the various solutions. You can find the perfect room or suite according to your taste. Well, I need to give you an advice. It won’t be easy to find your preferred one, because each of them has something peculiar. But maybe you are more able than me in choosing. Let’s go to explore.
Rooms
I want to start with the rooms, then we will see the best suites.
St. Regis Florence Deluxe Room review – Duomo view
When I first stayed at the St Regis, I opted for their entry-level room. It was during the Christmas season. And my indecision about where to stay in Florence caused me to miss out on some great rates. Just a few hours before our arrival, I hastily booked the “lowest” category of guest room at the St Regis Florence. Little did I know that all the rooms here are truly amazing. Upon check-in, I was informed that no upgrades were available due to the holiday. But I was just thrilled to have a room. To my surprise, I ended up with a room that offered a stunning view of the Duomo!
Cozy and inviting, the room was perfect for a relaxing stay. The decor exuded an air of royalty, with beautiful chandeliers, sumptuous fabrics, and textured walls. I secretly wished they could redecorate my own master bedroom to resemble this regal ambiance. As with every room at the St Regis Florence, there were captivating artifacts adorning the space. This particular room boasted two windows on opposite sides of the desk—one overlooking the Duomo and Piazza Ognissanti, while the other framed a view of Via Montebello. Despite being in a lively area, I didn’t hear much street noise, except during festive celebrations when the spirited Florentines added to the magical atmosphere.
Bathroom and amenities
Separated from the bedroom, there was a bathroom and a small walk-in closet. The marble-clad bathroom featured a combined tub and shower, complete with a hand shower and a refreshing rain shower. I particularly enjoyed the rejuvenating Remede amenities after a long day of travel. The bathroom had a beautiful gray color scheme that I immediately fell in love with and wanted to replicate in my own master bath, but I couldn’t find the same lamps. However, when the time comes to repaint, I will definitely incorporate this elegant color scheme. While it may be one of the smaller bathrooms at the St Regis, it was absolutely perfect for our short stay.
Overall, my first experience at the St Regis Florence exceeded my expectations, even with the entry-level room. It’s a testament to the hotel’s commitment to providing exceptional comfort and luxury to all its guests, regardless of room category.
Rooms with Arno River views
Throughout my visits to the St. Regis, I have had the pleasure of staying in various versions of their river view rooms. Each room holds a special place in my heart, and I appreciate them for different reasons. However, the key distinction lies in the bathrooms. If the bathroom setup is a crucial factor for you, I highly recommend reaching out to the property prior to booking or including a note in your reservation to ensure that the room aligns with your specific needs. The St. Regis staff is known for their thoughtfulness and dedication to accommodating guests to the best of their abilities.
St. Regis Florence Deluxe Room Review – Arno River View
In my opinion, this room is the ultimate choice to celebrate a special occasion such as an engagement, honeymoon, or anniversary. The opulent decor in shades of purple, gold, and red creates a romantic ambiance that is perfect for couples. The ceiling is adorned with intricate decor that adds to the cozy atmosphere of the room. Soft carpeting and luxurious loveseat fabric add to the comfort of the room.
The Murano glass chandelier provides a warm and romantic light for an unforgettable evening. If you prefer something softer, the wall sconces provide a more subdued lighting option. Waking up in this room is a dream come true, and I felt like a princess every morning.
Balcony and bathroom
The small balconies and windows offer breathtaking views of the Arno, and the desk is just the right size for a romantic getaway. I love opening the windows in the afternoon and listening to the gentle sounds of the river as I take a nap.
However, the bathroom in this room is not my favorite. While it is large by European standards, it felt a bit cramped to me. The bathroom provides a dual sink, a nice soaking tub, and Remede amenities. If the bathroom is an essential aspect of your stay, I suggest reaching out to the property before booking. It will help to ensure that the room meets your needs. The staff is thoughtful and accommodating and will do their best to ensure your stay is exceptional.
Another St. Regis Florence Premium Deluxe Room review – Arno view
Step into this room and you’ll be greeted by a bright and airy atmosphere. Its decor and abundant natural light reminded me of the junior suite, exuding a sense of spaciousness. The room features the same luxurious fabrics found in the deluxe room. But what sets it apart is the stunning artwork and textured walls that add a touch of elegance. The sitting area and chaise lounge are perfect for relaxation.
With its high ceilings, large windows, and light-colored floors, this room feels incredibly spacious and open. Just like the deluxe room, the windows and doors can be opened, allowing you to enjoy the beautiful view. Whether you need to work or unwind, this room offers the best of both worlds. There is ample desk space, making it convenient for any work-related tasks.
Highlights
Now, let’s talk about the highlight of this room: the beautiful marble bathroom. It boasts a separate shower and a luxurious soaking bathtub, perfectly positioned to overlook the magnificent Arno River. There’s nothing quite like indulging in a soothing bath while basking in the sunlight during the day or admiring the enchanting lights that line the Arno in the evening.
A small stool provides a comfortable spot for getting ready, and the bathroom itself is bathed in natural light, creating a truly stunning ambiance. Additionally, a small closet in the entryway offers extra privacy for your preparations. In this room, you’ll also find the exquisite Remede bath amenities, as well as the indulgent Acqua di Parma bath salts. It’s a haven of luxury and relaxation.
Whether you’re visiting for business or pleasure, this room provides a bright and spacious retreat where you can work, unwind, and immerse yourself in the beauty of Florence.
St. Regis Florence Premium Deluxe Room – Arno view
Living in this room feels like being immersed in the grandeur of an exquisite palace art gallery. The bright white walls and intricate woodwork details captivate the gaze, while the mesmerizing frescos adorn the walls. Rich blue and garnet tones grace the luxurious fabrics, complemented by gilded mirrors and sconces, lending an entirely distinct ambiance compared to the other rooms. The rustic chandelier illuminates this space, capturing Tom’s admiration, as he envisions a room reminiscent of the Beast’s palace in Beauty and the Beast.
Although I didn’t fully utilize the small sitting area, we often carried the chairs onto the balcony to relish the magnificent view. This room also features a convenient dressing room opposite the bathroom. Complete with a closet, built-in drawers, and a vanity for makeup application, it provides ample storage and preparation space. However, the bathroom and dressing room are noticeably dimmer than the previous room, akin to the deluxe room’s bathroom, lacking a separate shower and tub. Nonetheless, additional sconces offer much-needed brightness, which I appreciate when getting ready. As with the other rooms, this one is furnished with Remede bath amenities and Acqua di Parma bath salts.
The true allure of this room lies in the effortless enjoyment of the balcony. This year, I spent more time there than ever before, cherishing the breathtaking sunrise over the Ponte Vecchio. (Why didn’t I think to capture it in a photograph?)
One more St Regis Florence Premium Deluxe Room – Arno view
Without a doubt, this room is absolutely fantastic. If you’re not considering an upgrade to a suite, I highly recommend giving this room a serious thought. Personally, I was enamored with the bathroom. The magnificent marble bath boasted a separate shower and a luxurious soaking tub, adorned with my beloved Remede amenities. The embroidered, plush bathrobes were a delightful touch, especially for my spa visit—an annual tradition of mine to indulge in a treatment at the St. Regis spa.
The deep teal and ivory curtains in this room have captured my obsession. They exude a sense of elegance that has ignited my imagination for potential home renovations. The hotel’s style is simply astonishing and has become a significant source of inspiration for me. The serene colors of the paintings harmonize perfectly with the furniture, while the vibrant hues of the pillows and drapery enhance the overall ambiance. While this room lacks a balcony, its windows open up to the mesmerizing view of the Arno, allowing us to witness the most breathtaking sunsets from the comfort of our room.
Premium Larger Guest Room – Arno view
When I initially checked into the St. Regis Florence, I had planned for a 5-night stay. However, things took an unexpected turn, and I found myself extending our visit for an additional 4 nights. It happens sometimes, doesn’t it? Consequently, I had the pleasure of spending a total of 9 nights in one of the larger guest rooms at the St. Regis, and let me tell you, it was an absolute delight. This room truly felt like it was designed for royalty, with its regal canopy bed, lofty ceilings, and a dazzling chandelier. (I adored the bed so much that I’m seriously contemplating getting a St. Regis bed for our own bedroom now.) To add to the enchantment, the room was adorned with delightful holiday decorations, as our stay coincided with the winter festivities.
One aspect of this room that I particularly cherished was the cozy sitting area and the comfortable chairs it offered. The chairs could easily be swiveled around to face the windows, allowing me to savor a glass of wine while basking in the mesmerizing sunset from the sheer comfort of my room. It was a magical experience. And let me tell you, I even decided to have my very own happy hour in the room, complete with a well-served aperitivo. It was a splendid way to unwind and indulge in the luxurious atmosphere.
Suites
Let’s see how the best rooms are.
Junior Suite Arno View
Undoubtedly, this hotel room is the epitome of beauty, surpassing any other room I have ever had the pleasure of staying in. It truly emanates an air of royalty. The rich tones of deep purple and dark gray ignite a desire within me to revamp my own master bedroom, even though our ceilings may not be tall enough to accommodate these extraordinary design elements.
Everything about this room is awe-inspiring, from the brocade and velvet curtains to the velvety walls, the towering ceilings, the grand chandelier, and the exquisite free-standing tub that provides a breathtaking view of the Arno. (Can you believe it? This room actually had two bathtubs!) The large balcony, adorned with a table and chairs, overlooks the enchanting Piazza Oggisanti, while the windows offer a glimpse of the flowing Arno.
Opposite the bathroom, there is a spacious walk-in closet and a dedicated area for preparing oneself. The marble bathroom boasts a separate shower and a luxurious soaking tub, exuding a bright and well-lit ambiance, perfect for primping. It closely resembles the bathrooms in other rooms, albeit lacking the abundant natural light streaming through the windows. The bath amenities provided are none other than the luxurious Acqua di Parma. I must admit, sinking into the free-standing tub was a true pleasure, even though it required a slightly awkward exit in the middle of the room. Nevertheless, that did not deter me from thoroughly enjoying my relaxing soaks while indulging in captivating books.
If you wish to experience this remarkable room, you have the option to request it using a suite night award. Trust me, it will be an experience like no other. Learn more about the hotel and its loyalty program by Marriott.
Classic Junior Suite
During one of my memorable stays, I had the pleasure of indulging in this magnificent suite. I had initially booked five nights, and with the use of a Suite Night Award, I upgraded my room. The sheer excitement washed over me as our SNAs cleared, especially since it coincided with the holiday season. This presented the perfect opportunity to experience a junior suite in a different wing of the hotel.
Nestled on the side facing the majestic Duomo, this junior suite may not boast a room with a view, but it more than compensates with its generous space and tranquil ambiance. Staying here made me feel like an absolute princess, and as always, it was incredibly difficult to bid farewell to the St. Regis.
The suite encompasses a comfortable sitting room adorned with a plush couch, a coffee table, and a well-appointed desk and work area. The clever use of mirrors creates an illusion of brightness, ensuring the room is always bathed in warm light. The bedroom, with its ample size, is adorned with full nightstands on both sides and features the most heavenly bed. (I truly believe I need this bed in my own home.) The indulgence of Frette linens added an extra layer of comfort to my stay.
Design and amenities
One of the highlights of this suite is its remarkable bathroom design, which happens to be one of my favorites at the St. Regis Florence. It boasts a separate soaking tub, a walk-in shower, and elegant dual vanities. The bath amenities were switched from the beloved Remede brand (which still holds a special place in my heart) to Aveda. (However, I was delighted to find that the spa still stocked the Remede shampoo and conditioner, a source of immense joy for me!). The water pressure in the shower was exceptional, providing a truly invigorating experience.
Butler service
As always, our room included the impeccable St. Regis butler service, accompanied by the personalized touches that make this hotel truly exceptional. Shortly after check-in, on our first afternoon, the butler staff seized the moment while I was away for lunch and surprised me by personalizing my room according to my requests. It’s worth mentioning that during special occasions and celebrations, they also go the extra mile by presenting additional gifts and treats. And regardless of the guest room you book, the turndown service always includes a delectable chocolate truffle.
True to their reputation, the butler staff went above and beyond to ensure this stay was extraordinary. A bottle of prosecco awaited me in my room upon arrival. And during my subsequent visit to the spa, they thoughtfully delivered some delightful treats. I took advantage of the pressing service during this stay, and they impeccably cared for my suite as well as an elegant evening gown I had brought for a special dinner.
Every moment spent in this suite reaffirmed why the St. Regis Florence holds a special place in my heart. The attention to detail, the exceptional service, and the luxurious touches create an experience that is simply unmatched.
Deluxe Suite with Arno View
On another occasion, I was fortunate enough to experience the unmatched luxury of this incomparable suite. To my delight, the hotel staff upgraded me to a deluxe suite for my latest stay. This bi-level suite holds a special place in my heart, as it showcases exceptional use of space and offers an experience that cannot be compared to any other.
As you enter the suite, a short hallway welcomes you, housing one of the two closets in the suite, along with a conveniently placed small bathroom. (It’s the perfect arrangement for those who prefer separate closets and bathrooms for him and her). Just a few steps up, and you find yourself on the upper level, where a cozy sitting area awaits, complete with two desks, a television, and doors that graciously open up to reveal breathtaking views of the Arno. This area also boasts a well-stocked minibar and a delightful coffee and tea service, ensuring that your every comfort is taken care of.
Take three steps down, and you’ll find yourself in the expansive bathroom and bedroom area. The bathroom is a sanctuary of indulgence, featuring dual sinks, a combination shower and soaking tub, and ample space and natural light to effortlessly prepare for your day. The bedroom itself offers more than just a comfortable sleeping space. It boasts a second closet for added convenience, a second mini bar, a cozy sitting area, and an inviting balcony that allows you to relish in the mesmerizing views of the majestic Arno river.
Staying in this suite was an experience beyond compare. The thoughtful layout, the attention to detail, and the breathtaking river views truly set it apart. It’s a space that allows you to immerse yourself in luxurious comfort and create lasting memories.
The St. Regis Florence review
Now, it’s time to leave rooms and suites of the hotels, to dedicate some words about services and facilities.
St Regis Florence: staff and service
The staff at the St. Regis Florence holds a special place in my heart. Their warmth and attentiveness are truly unparalleled, and I haven’t encountered such exceptional service at many other hotels. From the moment you make your reservation, one team member ensures that your experience is welcoming and seamless. Another staff member, through her delightful emails, always fills me with anticipation for my return, and she greets me personally in the lobby upon my arrival. Whether I’m traveling alone or with company, the entire team is always ready to assist with every detail, making me feel well taken care of.
However, I must confess that there are certain individuals who have made my stays truly extraordinary. The receptionist, along with the butler, stands out as one of the kindest and friendliest people I have ever encountered. He excels at his role, and it’s evident that he genuinely enjoys creating memorable experiences for guests in Florence. Each year, he provides us with personalized recommendations and suggestions tailored to our interests. Being an avid photographer himself, he even shares tips on capturing the best views of the city. I cherish the handwritten cards and illustrations he leaves behind, which serve as cherished mementos of our trips.
Concierge
The concierge team has also played a pivotal role in ensuring our utmost satisfaction. They have secured reservations for us at our favorite restaurants and even braved rush hour traffic to hail a cab, cautioning the driver against taking advantage of us by choosing longer routes. No matter the request, reaching out to the concierge via email guarantees swift assistance or appropriate connections to other knowledgeable staff members. Their sense of responsibility and willingness to help, even before our arrival, sets them apart from many others.
The St. Regis Florence’s commitment to personalizing each stay is truly exceptional. It’s an element of hospitality that I haven’t encountered elsewhere. Although I have stayed at other St. Regis properties, the Italian staff’s hospitality takes it to another level. Their genuine care and dedication have made me feel like a cherished guest, leaving a lasting impression of true hospitality.
Iridium spa at The St. Regis Florence
I’m completely captivated by the Iridium Spa at the St. Regis Florence. Each visit leaves me yearning for more. The first time I indulged in a lavish three-hour treatment, I was left speechless by its sheer magnificence. From massages to water therapies, every moment was pure bliss. It felt like a complete rejuvenation, as if I had been granted a new lease on life. Whenever I find myself with spare time in this enchanting city, I make it a point to reserve an appointment at the spa.
The spa staff possesses a transformative power, capable of altering not only your physical well-being but also your entire perspective on massages. The first time I experienced their customized 90-minute massage, it almost tempted me to cancel the remainder of our trip and simply bask in the serene oasis of Florence. I opted for a firming massage, and its effect on my confidence, especially when adorned in my evening gown, was truly remarkable.
Even when I forget to pre-book my spa session in advance, the staff at the Iridium Spa go above and beyond to accommodate my request. They work tirelessly to find a way to make it work, even when spontaneity leads us to choose our destination at the last possible moment. The spa at the St. Regis Florence serves as a haven for unwinding after a long day navigating the charming cobblestone streets. I find myself yearning to spend more time enveloped in its tranquil ambiance. Alas, Florence beckons with its countless wonders, leaving me torn between indulging in further spa bliss and exploring all the city has to offer!
Dinner at the Winter Garden restaurant
Listen up, folks. I’m gonna admit something that’s a bit embarrassing. I’ve been a regular guest at the St. Regis for years now, and let me tell you, I’ve had the privilege of dining at the Winter Garden restaurant on multiple occasions. And let me tell you, it was beyond incredible. One time, during the month of December, I decided to indulge in the Savini Truffle Experience menu, a culinary journey centered around the exquisite white truffle. Let me tell you, every single dish was a symphony of flavors. I couldn’t resist ordering the white truffle pasta, the herb pasta with white ragout and truffle boasting 40 yolks, the truffle-infused filet, and to top it all off, a tantalizing tarte tatin served with a side of gingerbread ice cream.
To complement my meal, I carefully selected a variety of wines, ensuring that each dish had the perfect accompanying glass. Let me tell you, the Winter Garden’s menu is a wine lover’s paradise. I must confess, I don’t even remember all the wines I tried. But I ended the evening on a high note with a delightful grasshopper cocktail that left me with an immense feeling of joy.
But here’s the best part—the service was impeccable. The staff at Winter Garden knows how to create a dining experience that leaves you in awe. The elegant ambiance, complemented by the soothing sounds of the piano, sets the stage for a truly magical evening. Trust me, folks, you don’t want to miss out on this extraordinary dining experience. It’s challenging to find another restaurant that can rival the splendor of the Winter Garden.
Bar at the Winter Garden
Every single evening, the St. Regis Florence treats its guests to a complimentary glass of sparkling wine from 7:00 to 8:00. It’s a time-honored tradition known as the apertivo, accompanied by the enchanting melodies of live piano music. Let me tell you, I took full advantage of this delightful offering. It was the perfect way to kickstart my evenings in style. The prosecco was just the right balance, not too overpowering, and the delectable snacks provided a light and satisfying accompaniment. In fact, I even began planning my dinner reservations around this magical hour, ensuring that I could soak in the wonderful ambiance of the Winter Garden.
But that’s not all. On my last trip, I discovered a fantastic way to end my nights at the St. Regis Florence—by visiting the Winter Garden. This captivating venue stays open until midnight, making it the perfect spot for a soothing nightcap. The pianist’s melodies were truly captivating, setting the perfect mood for relaxation. The staff, always friendly and kind, made me feel right at home. And the drinks, oh, they were simply divine. My personal favorite was still the Grasshopper, a refreshing concoction that allowed me to unwind and savor the moment. What’s even better is that my room was just a short stroll away, making the journey back after my nightcap a breeze.

Free breakfast at the Winter Garden restaurant
During certain trips, I took advantage of the complimentary breakfast offered to me as a program member. It’s one of the perks that come with my status, and let me tell you, it was well worth it. The breakfast is served on the first floor, and the tables provide a lovely view overlooking the Winter Garden restaurant. It’s a shame to miss out on the experience of dining in the restaurant itself.
Personally, I found the breakfast spread to be delightful. The fresh fruit was always a favorite of mine, as well as the selection of cheeses and salumi. But what truly impressed me was the omelet bar. The skilled chefs were ready to whip up any omelet creation you could imagine. It was a treat to have a made-to-order omelet exactly to my liking. And let’s not forget about the delicious cakes they offered. They were simply irresistible.
During the winter season, I always made sure to indulge in a cup of hot chocolate. There’s something so comforting about sipping on a warm and rich beverage to start the day. After all, they say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and I couldn’t agree more.
Suite Night Awards and its use
I’ve had the pleasure of using our Suite Night Awards on multiple occasions. One time, I decided to book the base room I wanted. Which was a deluxe Arno river view room. And then used the Suite Night Awards to secure an upgrade. My thinking was that securing the room I desired and any further upgrades would be an added bonus. As luck would have it, I was upgraded to a premium deluxe Arno view room. It exceeded my expectations.
On another occasion, when I had the option between an Arno View Junior Suite and a Classic Junior Suite for a base room. I decided to request both. It was an exciting opportunity to experience a new suite. I thoroughly enjoyed exploring the unique features of each.
During one of my most recent visits, I was thrilled when my Suite Night Award cleared for a five-night stay, and to my surprise, they went above and beyond by further upgrading me for my birthday. Their kindness truly made the occasion memorable. Now, I’m eagerly awaiting the opportunity to check out the Royal Suite, as it has piqued my curiosity, surpassing even the allure of the Bottega Veneta suite.
I must say, the St. Regis Florence has been exceptional when it comes to the availability of Suite Night Awards. Their fairness in granting them is commendable. I highly recommend giving them a try for yourself. You won’t be disappointed. Check out the program and reserve your stay.
Conclusions
If you are still thinking about the reservation, I can tel you: do it. A vacation is like an investment and at The St. Regis Florence you will totally pay your investment. Well being is important during a holiday, that’s why this accommodation is strongly recommended. I offered my direct experience and knowledge, anyway, see the offers and the rooms, then decide. Surely, your partner, family or friends will be happy with your choice. Your stay in Florence will become magic. Believe me. Enjoy!
