Art of Romanticism

The magnificent Art of Romanticism. In 1861 Italians united Italy. After some battles. Thanks also to a great engagement of artists. All the kingdoms disappear to let space to a unique country. The process that brought all the country under the same king started in 1815, after the Congress of Vienna. We call this period Risorgimento (Resurgence). It gave the chance to Italy to change its shape. People worked hard to reach the goal and art gave an important contribution to it. Art of Romanticism became the flag of the movement.

The ability of the art to make a revolution impress me a lot. This happens many times, in almost all the eras, especially in the last centuries. Anyway, who loves art has an interest in analyzing the historical context. Not only. Who loves art want to pay attention to the techniques. It’s amazing how artists changed the way to paint in the 19th century. I like a lot of painting and sculptures and going around the Italian museums and exhibitions I saw the evolution of the style. Also the differences among the artworks of the various artists of the same period.

Art of Romanticism: the 19th-century revolution

Romanticism started at the end of the 18th century. When the new generation of artists understood that Neoclassicism wasn’t influencing anymore the society, they started to search for something new. They changed completely the way to express their ideas and point of view. The art of Romanticism has various features. Romanticism canceled the Neoclassical reasoning, control, geometric perfection and, above all, imitation of the art of the ancients.

Not all the artists of the period made a radical change, but most of them yes. They wanted to draw a line to separate the past from the present. Their style was dominated by unbridled passion, strong feelings and a renewed fervor for the religious world. Moreover, if the neoclassical artist was convinced that the perfection of art had been reached by the ancients, the romantic drew, instead, inspiration from the dark and mysterious world of the Middle Ages. That period until then had been considered a period of no importance and purely negative.

Art of Romanticism in Italy

Who loves art can easily understand how nice is a journey into the art of Romanticism. That period is really amazing because it takes people into modern art. The paintings are not only a representation of a view, but there is a sign, something more. I think the feature of the style is visible in the vigorous brushstrokes capable of interpreting reality. Color and not too defined signs tell a story.

This is what I like about the art of Romanticism. Then, of course, there are many elements related to the history of that period. I love to explore the most important event of Italian unity. Also, I like to see in the paintings how Italy was at that time. The same feelings, especially talking about techniques, come from the sculpture. If you want to see art in Italy you have a lot of opportunities. But I recommend you to explore the artworks of the 18th century.

Romance artists

If you like art visit Italy. Art of Romanticism has a huge collection spread in all the country. There are many museums that offer the view of great artworks to the visitors. Time to time in various Italian cities there are thematic exhibitions. I like them because they collect paintings and sculptures also from foreign museums and private collections. So it’s easy to see some artworks that are usually not visible to the public.

I will write more about some art galleries and museums. Because Italy can show you the best examples of the art of Romanticism. But now I want to share some pictures I took during my visits. So I let you enjoy them. Before I remind you that after finding a flight, maybe using some free miles obtained with your credit card, you can reserve a hotel and buy the tickets to enter the museum. Planning in advance will be useful especially if you want to see some temporary exposition because you will check the place and the dates.

Happy birthday to me

Today it is a big day for me or better for my blog. I should say “Happy birthday” to me. Yes, today I celebrate the first year of blogging. After 12 months I can say something more about my activity and not only to wish to “myself” a happy birthday. 2018 was very interesting for my presence online. On 1st January 2018, I started to write posts on WordPress, Instagram, and Twitter. I had a different relationship with each of these platforms.

Here I wrote every day for the very first period, as I did on IG, but then my job didn’t allow me to continue with the same engagement. Then, even without posting, I focused more on Instagram because it was funny for me. Meanwhile, Twitter was for me the way to share the links to my posts on the blog. Why am I telling you that? Be patient and you will discover it. My happy birthday is really happy because of you.

The way to my…happy birthday

Instagram gave me followers because I was spending my time there, but the blog was not growing. Post after post the number of followers was almost the same. After the 20th August 2018, I started to be more active on WordPress Reader. I discovered many interesting blogs and following, liking and commenting I got results. From 14 followers I arrived to have (now) 1025 followers. You started to follow my activity online. That was a good start for my happy birthday.

This gave me a reason to write more and to continue. Especially I had some feedbacks. You asked me to put more pictures, to add some information about my travels and so on. That is why I bought a domain and, with the help of an expert, I changed the dress of my blog. I am experimenting step by step for two reasons. The first one is to learn something useful to manage my blog, the second one is to give you better contents, more interesting for you. So my happy birthday has come.

From the first year to the second one

Well, I already wrote some thoughts about my first year. So in this part of the post, celebrating my happy birthday I can focus on the plan for 2019. Today it is the first day of the New Year, this means that my blog’s birthday is even more important. My wish and my expectations go to include my goals. What to do next? Grow. This is the answer because I really like to interact with you, to share my experience and to improve my posts together with you.

I am planning to organize myself better in order to combine the time for work and the time for the blog. Some articles are already in my mind, but this it’s easy because I have some trips already fixed on my agenda. Then I want to create a section dedicated to my experience on the internet. What? Why? Some of you asked me for some advice about blog management. I am not an expert, but I can explain what I learn in doing. Now you can start to say to me “happy birthday”. Why not?! But the big gift I ask you is to give me your feedback.

You and me

This birthday is happy because of you all, my dear 1025 followers. I thank you for the support and for being here. In the beginning, I had a lot of doubts, but mow my passion became reality. I was surprised when I started to see the numbers of visits and views. Maybe my expectations were very low and maybe I was thinking to leave after a few months. I am here and I want to go forward.

This means a lot. I promise you to keep my engagement and to write cool and interesting posts in the next 12 months. This is my new goal in walking with you for 52 weeks, traveling and sharing. There will be tips about the places I visit and my luxury experiences. What do you think about my plans? In the end, I say happy birthday to my blog and Happy New Year to you!

This is my video for you. Don’t forget to check my YouTube channel.

New Year’s Eve in Europe

The New Year’s Eve is getting closer and we need ideas. Till today I was thinking of a relaxing night with friends or something like that, but one of my friends proposed me to search for a short trip. Well, he literally asked me some last minute proposal. I am still not convinced to accept, but at least I want to help him. That is why I started my research online.

I love to travel so it is certainly not a big deal to prepare the luggage and to go abroad for a few days. But I travel often and maybe I can enjoy these holidays at home. Maybe just visiting friends around me. Anyway, I am not here to share my wish about the New Year’s Eve, but to tell you about my research and to ask you some ideas also.

New Year’s Eve trips

Generally, when I search online for some advice I have already a general idea, but not this time. So I have to combine the last minute proposal according to my (and the ones of my friends) interests. The New Year’s Eve offers are really a lot, also if many hotels, at least in Italy, seems fully booked. Amsterdam, Paris, London, Berlin and many other destinations in Europe.

Stay in Europe is better to not lose too much time in traveling. I decided to check the various events around the main cities. It can be funny to attend a concert. It is also better to see something innovative or exclusive. What to do? Where to go? These questions are in my mind all the time, but I need to win the challenge: find a good place for New Year’s Eve.

The events of New Year’s Eve

Rome, Milan, Turin, Naples will host big concerts, but Italy is not in our wish. We want to go out of our country. Then it is not a too crowdy place, but just some fun with new people. There are also proposals for a break in nature, mountains to see the snow and stay close to the fireplace. We need a last second travel offer for the New Year’s Eve.

A plane, a room and nothing more. This is what we are searching for. Of course, it has to be a good destination, where to have fun. Possibly a place where I have never been. Maybe this is too much for my friends. Reading the New Year’s Eve idea I get confused. What to do? Maybe you can help and maybe my friends will easily decide.

European cities and New Year’s Eve

The first proposal in Madrid, Spain: the capital appears as a must for party lovers. There are a lot of events, some places where to drink and dance and they have also a good cuisine. At midnight they eat, as the tradition says, a bunch of grapes. Then there is Madeira Islands in Portugal. There is a cruise ship that starts from Funchal and there are fireworks on the sea. In 2006 they were recognized by the Guinness World Records for the largest display of the fireworks in the world.

The New Year’s Eve is cool also in London, UK. The sky at midnight becomes a blaze of light and colors. They organized a big firework show. On 1st January there will be a parade with 8,500 performers from 20 different countries. In Berlin, Germany, at the Brandenburger Gate they will have more than two kilometers of fun stages for shows, party tents, light, and laser shows as well as a mass of food and drink stands. An amazing street party.

Other proposals

In Paris, France, the New Year’s Eve will have a magical setting with the Eiffel Tower, the Seine, the bridges. They offer a special festive menu: scallop céviche, duckling breast, Christmas Log. All accompanied by a live orchestra. Edinburgh, Scotland, host Edinburgh’s Hogmanay, one of the biggest world’s celebrations. It consists of a Torchlight Procession that will end with a fireworks show.

In Brussels, Belgium, they will play more than 60 DJs in 15 different New Year’s Eve parties around the city. The charming streets will become a big discotheque. They will play from rock’n’roll to hip-hop. Dubrovnik, Croatia, will be full of performers to entertain people, also with music. Then in Vienna, Austria, in the City Hall Square and in Prater there will be great events. The first one is a gala dinner with festive ball and opera. The second one is a concert with a hip club and sophisticated bar.

Among the proposals, there are many other cities as Prague and Stockholm, but I guess there is enough to choose. Also, research on Booking.com gave me some ideas. In fact, there are some hotel offers. Now we need only to prepare our credit card.

And you?

What will you do for your New Year’s Eve? Any ideas? Do you have some tips? What would you choose among the proposals that I found? Share your traditional party or just some curious way to celebrate. I will appreciate it a lot. You can just write in comments.
