I want to guide you, to give you an itinerary that will take you into a dream. My goal is to suggest a special tour you will surely love, to taste the real Morocco and to enjoy also a bit of luxury. It is a travel idea that allows you to get the best and live a unique experience. Before to tell you more about the tour proposal and explain how to access a special condition, let me introduce you to this marvelous destination. You will enjoy your Morocco travel.
Morocco travel: the best in the country
What can you expect visiting this Northern Africa pearl? There is a huge variety of attractions from nature to art, from history to culture. Unique settings will make you travel through the centuries, like a historical trip to discover tradition and modernity. The best places in Morocco can answer any taste and goal of travelers. That’s why you have to consider the idea to mix city and desert, but especially following an itinerary that brings you to cross the country.
The environment looks like made to surprise travelers, but the only hand that touched the Sahara desert with its dunes and the High Atlas is the one of nature. Colored landscapes take you to pass by the rocks of Rif, together with High Atlas, and the sand that surrounds the beautiful oasis. The sun enlights the beauties playing with shadows to underline the best features, while the night stars give a romantic setting and help to find directions. The hot temperature lets the fresh air take over in the night to refresh people and animals. Admire the views from Tizi n’Ticha pass and visit waterfalls, forested hills, and the coastline. Each step will make your Morocco travel a special moment between wonders.
Medinas are exciting places. The word comes from the Arab language and it means city. You won’t find something similar on the continent. They were built on the main nomads’ trails and their centuries-old palaces show the organization of the communities across the centuries. Fez, Marrakech with its carnivalesque street-theatre of the Djemaa El Fna, will take you into the history to learn more about the country’s evolution. It will be interesting and curious to see the kasbahs, the protection walls, some of them made of shells approaching the coast. While the modern Casablanca, Rabat, and Tangier express modern urban design.
Activities to do
You can say to have visited a country only when you experience local traditions and habits. In Morocco, this is a must. You can start seating in a cafe on the street or better on a square to watch people passing. You have to drink a coffee or the superb mint tea they have. I am a tea lover and the one in the country is simply fantastic. Maybe you will agree with me. It is a good chance to make a plan. What to do? Go hiking on North Africa’s highest peak, then taste and learn how to roll couscous, visit ancient cities and markets, sleep in boutique riads, restore yourself in a hammam. You should also try to mop up delicately flavored tajines. If you are searching for some relaxation, go to terraces, they are perfect for that.
There is no Morocco travel without a journey into traditions. You should start by considering the ability of the country to wove ties to Africa, Europe, and the Middle East. This created an international ambiance to facilitate relationships and giving inspirations to locals for community evolution. The national identity is strong, also because its origin is a mixture of Arabs and Berbers. New generations followed new trends, but this means that the local world is more colorful. There is the time to pray at the mosque and to dance in hip hop discotheques. Discover the various sides of the country, go for traditions, and be open to learning and talking with people.
Why visit Morocco
Are you curious about this amazing country? Well, if you need some reasons to plan your visit, let me inspire more your Morocco travel. But then I will have my best card to play, the best itinerary idea. Be patient, let’s discover everything steps by step, this is the way to explore this amazing place.
Sun and stars in the desert
The largest desert in the world is always ready to welcome you and especially to be seen under different lights. Ride a camel and enjoy the sunset, sunrise, and the stars in the night. Camping in the desert is the best option to visit it and to get the best moments to see the dunes and the environment.
Mountains and panorama
Sahara is fascinating, but any Morocco travel needs to consider another natural wonder. The Atlas Mountains and Toubkal Mountains are the highest points in the area and from there you can see an incomparable panorama. You will need a few hours on the direct trail, but it worth it. If you want to explore more the mountains you can opt for the longer route and spend over there a long weekend. On the way, you will find some Berber villages and you can stay there to learn more about their traditions.
Would you like to follow the steps of emperors? Morocco offers you the chance to see four imperial cities. Rabat, Marrakech, Fes, and Meknes have something in common. All of them have been the capital of the country, but the first one is the actual one. The charm of historic medinas will fascinate you, each of them is different and this will be surprising for various reasons, but when you will be the colorful tanneries in Fes, you will fall in love.
One of the best ways to see landscapes out of the city is by using feet or bicycles. It is full of walking tracks to the mountains and not only. Especially you can hike the river canyons. You will be amazed by ochre-colored cliffs. The scenic mountain passes are surely a must-see attraction, but I am sure you will like a lot to go to Draa Valley, one of the largest oases with date palms in the country.

3 days 2 nights a Brief and Charming Sahara tour
Who has never dreamed of sleeping in the Sahara cozily nestled between dunes while looking at the stars? This 3 days desert tour from Marrakech to Merzouga has been our best seller for years. Explore the High Atlas Mountains region on a hike, and camp under the stars in the desert.
Day 1 Marrakech/High Atlas/Ait Ben Haddou/Ouarzazate/Dades valley (overnight)
Your journey begins in Marrakech. You depart the Red City and drive through the High Atlas Mountains. Along the way, there are plenty of vistas at which to stop for photographs. You will cross the famous Tichka Pass (2,260 m / 7,414 ft), the highest paved pass in North Africa. The road from there continues to snake in and out through canyons and valleys. As the road begins to level out, you will find the famous Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site, located on the slopes of the High Atlas. After freely exploring the kasbah, you will continue on your journey. Not long after you’ll enter the city of Ouarzazate, known as the Moroccan Hollywood for the numerous movies filmed in the city.
Lunch is in Ouarzazate. Shortly thereafter, you will drive through Skoura, a fertile oasis lined with palm groves, olive trees, and the ruins of kasbahs that date back to the 12th century. As you leave the Skoura Valley behind, you’ll drive through the Valley of the Roses. If it happens to be the first weekend of May, you will encounter the annual Rose Festival. In the early evening hours, you will reach your destination for the night in the spectacular Dades Valley and Gorges.
Day 2: Tondra Gorge/Merzouga/camel trek and overnight in a desert camp
In the morning, you’ll make your way into the town of Boumalne, which marks the southern entrance to the Dades Gorge. You’ll find that the central market square is a good vantage point to observe the local life. From there you’ll drive through Tinghir, back to High Atlas Mountains, and into Todgha Valley and Gorges where you’ll have the opportunity for a stroll through the gorges in the morning. Afterward, you will drive back through the Todgha valley, through the small towns of Tinghir and Tinjdad, and into Erfoud. Erfoud is the International Capital of Fossils as well as a filming site for the movies The Mummy and King of Persia. Each year in October the city hosts the National Date Festival. After spending some time in the city known as the “Gate to the Sahara Desert,” you will continue your journey off-road to the impressive Erg Chebbi Sand Dunes. In a short time, you will arrive at the camp in time to board camels for a leisurely jaunt to the dunes where you will watch the sun sink below the horizon. Your night will be spent under the stars in a nomad tent.
Day 3: Merzouga Dunes/Draa Valley/Anti Atlas Mountains /Marrakech end of the tour
It is well worthwhile to rise early and observe the sunrise and the shadows as they play amidst the vibrant colors of the dunes. After a hearty breakfast, you’ll begin the long journey to Marrakech, starting in the magnificent Draa Valley. On the way, you’ll pass through the village of Tazzarine which was featured in the film, Babel. You may stop there or another small village for a delicious lunch. Later in the afternoon, you’ll continue through the Draa Valley toward the small city of Agdz. Along the way, you’ll pass through a fertile oasis checkered with kasbahs along the river. Some kasbahs lie in ruins and others are still inhabited. You’ll glimpse Berbers working in the fields, carrying out the subsistence farming in the same manner as the generations before them. Shortly thereafter, you’ll enter the town of Ouarzazate. From Ouarzazate, you’ll make your way back through the High Atlas Mountains toward Marrakech, arriving near dusk.
