Bulgaria is one of the new destinations for the worldwide tourists and especially Sofia, the capital city, is attracting tourists interested in history, religion and archeology. The down town is a real jewel, because among the tipical communists buildings, done during the regime, there are Roman constructions and as well Orthodox churches. It is a surprising city. I have been there and I had an amazing visit to the archeological museum, one of the bests, very well organized and rich of finds.
I want anyway share my luxury experience with the accomodation, because, it is the case to say it, you can feel like a President in Sofia. I chose to book a room in Sofia Hotel Balkan, a 5-stars luxury structure that cooperate with Sheraton brand even if with its independency. It is located in the centre in the same building of the Presidency. Just behind the hotel there is the office and the apartment of the President of the Bulgarian Republic.
In the courtyard of the hotel travellers can see the St. George Rotunda, a church built by the Romans in the 4th century, and in few steps you can reach the famous cathedral St. Alexander Nevsky. When you enter in the hall you find immediately the courtesy of the staff, well prepared and available to make your stay confortable and pleasant. I used an executive room for my short break in Sofia and I had everything I needed.
The room was furnished with style, with luxury amenities and in the wardrobe it was available also an iron with ironing board. Flat TV screen, minibar, high speed Wi-Fi connection, coffea and tea maker, deluxe bath amenities, confortable chair and desk, balcony with city view are just some of the features. But also the services are important. In the late afternoon the waitress prepare the bed for the night and fix the room if something is needed.
The executive accomodation allows the guest to use the club lounge, a room where you can have drink and food at any time for a snack or an appetizers, but as well to read and meet someone in a quiet and reserved area. An intimate atmosphere is tipical also of the Pliska Lobby Bar inside the hotel, where clients can have a fresh salad or just a coffee. A special mention I have to dedicate it to the Stardust Restaurant that offers a special culinary experience, in an elegant environment and with an impeccable service. It is possible to choose between Continental recipies and some local dishes, coming from the Bulgarian tradition and very well presented.
The two keywords of Sofia Hotel Balkan are luxury and customer satisfaction. I recommend this structure and as well a trip around the city, because I am sure you will love it.
