One of the best and of the historical bars of Turin is located in the central Piazza San Carlo, in the middle of the luxury shopping street Via Roma. It was built in 1903 and it keeps, even if with some renovation, the elegant and old setting, to make the guests feel in the same environment of the nobles and important people of the city who were sitting inside the bar. It is called Caffè Torino and it is like an institution for inhabitants. Many local VIP are going to have a coffee there.
Inside there is also a restaurant where to taste the typical recipes of Piedmont, well prepared by a good chef. In the menu there is a good choice as in the bar menu, composed by beverages ad snacks. I suggest to try the pastries and, in Autumn, marrons glacés. They are among the best around all the region and if you like chestnuts, you will love those sweets.
During summer time you can seat outside and enjoy the square, as I like to do in the warm season at the sunset. When the sky become coloured and the red light lap the building and the monuments around you can be seated in the corner of Piazza San Carlo with your drink and chat with your friends, the perfect situation after a working day. Of course Caffè Torino is a lovely luxury place where to go with the guests who are visiting Turin.
